About Us

First opened in the 1930’s by Mr. Tod, the practice has remained true to its original function which was to protect the sight of everyone that came in. Having passed that name on to Mr. Allon, it was then passed on to William Sharkey and has now been passed on to Mr. Sohaib Shafiq. Mr. Shafiq remains committed to the original ideals of protecting the communities sight as well as offering an excellent choice of designer and budget frames to suit all.

Sohaib Shafiq qualified in 2005 from Glasgow Caledonian University and with a firm determination to provide high-quality eye care and an extensive option of frames, lenses and contact lenses at a local community level at an affordable cost.

Since then, Sohaib undertook additional qualification and is now an Independent Prescriber, which means he can issue medicines for almost any eye condition someone can suffer from.

In his spare time, Sohaib enjoys snowboarding, driving his bike and traveling.

We Love

The personal relationships we make with every person that comes in, be they 6 or 60.

The smile on everyone’s face when they get their new spectacles, to be part of the process of giving the gift of sight, whether to watch your favorite drama or sport or read that new book.

What We Do

We do Eye Exams – Checking your glasses and health of your eyes (and we think we do it really well).

We do Contact Lens Assessment and Check-ups. Ask us about our daily and monthly options.

We definitely do spectacles, whether on a budget or fancy the latest designer styles, we have them all.

Don’t forget lenses, single vision, bifocals, varifocals as well as the occasional trifocals.

We travel the country to all the optical conferences to make sure you get all the cool glasses locally

To ask about anything else, or to book an eye examination, call us on 01416476502.
